A New Day for New York Rally

UFT members joined hundreds of other union members, activists and community advocates for a rally in Foley Square in Manhattan on Dec. 5 to herald the end of the Bloomberg era and to express their hopes for a more just city under Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio.

Marchers sang, blew whistles and marched down to Zuccotti Park. The news of Nelson Mandela’s death was announced during the rally, and a moment of silence was held in his honor.
