Seventh annual Better Speech and Hearing Month

Her father had no idea she was going to go up to the microphone and give a speech. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house when the Forest Hills HS student, who was born deaf and now has cochlear implants, gave a talk at the seventh annual Better Speech and Hearing Month celebration on May 13.

Karten Bornemann (third from left) credited the work of the Better Speech and Hearing Committee, including (from left) Ava Geddis, Jennifer Knight, co-chair Katherine Lewis, Lorina Allert and co-chair Brenda Caquias. Danita Susi also served on the committee, while Betzaida Colon and Paul Moore handled the graphic designs and coordination that gave the event that celebratory touch.
