Tailgate party for Thompson at Cyclones Game

UFT-endorsed mayoral candidate Bill Thompson surrounded by some fired-up UFT members and leaders.

The crowd was all in for Thompson.

Joining with enthusiastic UFT members are UFT President Michael Mulgrew (third from left) and the UFT’s choice for our city’s next mayor, Bill Thompson (center).

What’s a tailgate party without food?

From left, school aide Mary Juarbe, paraprofessional Lucy Cuevas and Bruni Padilla, all from PS 106 in Brooklyn, with Shelvy Abrams-Young, paraprofessional chapter chairperson, in back. “I’ll do whatever I can to get Thompson elected,” Cuevas said, “because the next mayor needs to know what teachers have to say.”

This group of educators from the Lyons Community School in Bushwick were enjoying the game.

The Cyclones may be Brooklyn, but the Bronx was in the house.

PS 256 and PS 88 in Queens came to Coney Island for the tailgate party and game.

After throwing out the first and second pitches of the game, Mulgrew and Jason Singh, the executive director of OneSight, which has formed a partnership with several community learning schools to provide vision services, had a chat.

The Federation of Nurses/UFT group, including Special Representative Anne Goldman, far right, turns out for candidate Thompson and the Brooklyn Cyclones.

Jackson Farrell, the chapter leader and Rita Stein, a delegate, both from IS 347, Brooklyn, with Stein’s daughter Ilana
