Evelyn DeJesus elected AFT executive vice president

Evelyn DeJesus, the UFT's vice president for education, was elected by the national union’s executive council as executive vice president. She will serve alongside President Randi Weingarten and Secretary-Treasurer Lorretta Johnson. She will continue in her current role as UFT vice president.

In response, UFT President Michael Mulgrew issued the following statement:

Evelyn DeJesus puts her heart and soul into helping educators, students and families. She is a true advocate, a straight-talker and someone whose actions matches her words. Now, educators across the country will get to work with her, not just New Yorkers.
