Mulgrew reacts to APPR bill

Press Releases

On Jan. 23, 2019, the New York State Senate passed a bill eliminating the requirement that state test scores be used as criteria in teacher evaluations.

In response, UFT President Michael Mulgrew issued the following statement:

Educators and parents helped bring sanity, common sense and good educational policy back to New York State. We thank the Assembly and Senate for hearing us and for stopping the mandated use of standardized tests in teacher ratings and eliminating them from students’ permanent record.
