Mulgrew reacts to creation of academic policy task force

Press Releases

On Aug. 4, Schools Chancellor Carmen Fariña announced the creation of a new Regulatory Task Force on Academic Policy, which will examine the use of credit recovery programs in high schools. The six-member task force will be overseen by Phil Weinberg, the deputy chancellor of teaching and learning, and include four other department officials.

In response to the announcement, UFT President Michael Mulgrew issued the following statement:

"Chancellor Farina has taken an important step to deal with the credit recovery problems caused by the Bloomberg administration and continued by his appointees — a scandal that school 'reformers' chose to ignore when Bloomberg was in charge of the system."
