On Dec. 17, 2019, Gov. Andrew Cuomo unveiled his agenda for the first 100 days of 2019. In his speech, Cuomo addressed the distribution of state funding among public schools.
In response, UFT President Michael Mulgrew issued the following statement:
As Gov. Cuomo has said, it’s time to take the politics out of state resources for education. Poor children, who have been shortchanged for years by the state formula, need to be first in line as the state distributes education funds. Strong unions are a critical factor in a strong economy, and we applaud the governor’s pledge to protect working people in our state, particularly in ensuring the rights of public employees at all levels.
