Mulgrew reacts to judge's ruling on charter school certification

Press Releases

On June 19, 2018, a judge blocked a rule that would have allowed certain schools to certify their own teachers. The rule, which was approved by the State University of New York in October 2017, was designed to give charter schools more discretion over their hiring.

In response, UFT President Michael Mulgrew issued the following statement:

Today the children of New York State won. We are gratified that the Court found in favor of strict certification requirements for all teachers.
