Provider Alert: Fire extinguisher inspections

Please be aware: Fire extinguisher companies have been calling family child care providers and telling them that the fire department has mandated that they must have their fire extinguishers inspected. This is not true. If you receive a call from a fire extinguishing company, do not agree to have your fire extinguisher inspected. The company will visit your program, charge you for the inspection and encourage you to buy unnecessary fire extinguishers. Child care providers are only mandated to have ABC extinguishers. These companies are deceptive and preying on family child care providers. Please do not allow them into your program.
