Members of the RTC chapter in Nevada had an opportunity to hear Democratic presidential candidate Julián Castro during a town hall meeting on Oct. 2 at AFL-CIO headquarters in Henderson. Richard Miller, the UFT retiree section coordinator, organized the event.
"Nevada has an early caucus, so it's critical for candidates and for our members to have a face-to-face dialogue," Miller said.
The AFT is holding similar town halls across the country with all the major Democratic candidates for president. The town halls are part of a series of activities, including online forums and member surveys, being organized by the AFT to ensure a high level of member engagement in the presidential endorsement process.
