Lump-sum payments to recent retirees

New York Teacher

UFT members who retired between Nov. 1, 2009, and June 30, 2014, received the retroactive money from the 2014 contract in late February. (Lump-sum payments to pedagogues for per-session and per-diem work will be made separately by the end of March.)

To get a detailed statement showing a paycheck-by-paycheck accounting of the lump sum, the Department of Education created a portal. For those who receive their pensions by direct deposit, they will also be able to see and print the pay details (e.g. the gross pay and deductions) on the lump-sum payment via the portal.

A set of FAQs has been posted to the Retired Teachers Chapter of the UFT website.

If retirees have trouble accessing the special portal or have questions or concerns about their payment after reviewing the detailed statement, they should call their UFT borough office and ask to speak to a payroll representative.
