Tom Murphy, the Unity Caucus candidate for chapter leader of the Retired Teachers Chapter, was re-elected to the post with 78.89 percent of the vote following the June 29 vote count by the American Arbitration Association.

Murphy, who received 13,032 votes, began his third three-year term on July 1.

Retiree Advocate Caucus candidate Carl Makower opposed Murphy in the election and received 3,486 votes, or 21.11 percent.

The Unity Caucus also won the remaining officer and Executive Board positions:

• Secretary: George Altomare; Assistant Secretary: Howard Bloch; Corresponding Secretary: Frances L. Brown.
• Vice Chair Leaders: Frank Carucci, Abe Levine, Jacqueline Singletary, John Soldini.
• Treasurer: Vincent Gaglione; Assistant Treasurer: Angela Reformato Solomon.
• Executive Board: Teresa Alejandro, Patricia Blackwell, Ronald Campana, Helen Chin, Yvette Alane Geary, Anthony Giardina, Mildred Glaberman, Pearline Harris, Edward Johnson, Frieda Jones, Joyce Magnus, Donald Nobles, Linda Selesnick, James Tabert, Frank Volpicella.

The entire slate of UNITY candidates, meanwhile, were elected to the Delegate Assembly positions.
