WHEREAS, New York Public Schools have a large Haitian population and Haitian schools teach in French not Haitian Creole;

WHEREAS, the New York Department of Education does not offer French translations of state exams including Regent exams; be it

RESOLVED, the UFT will identify and work with community leaders and lobby for NYSED to offer French translation, in addition to Haitian Creole, for all state exams that are currently translated.
