The Federation of Nurses/UFT celebrated the fifth annual Nurse Recognition Day on May 14 to honor nurses for their exceptional union service and excellence in patient care.

On Tuesday, May 8, in honor of National Nurses Week, a contingent of Federation of Nurses/UFT members traveled to Albany to lobby for health care issues.

More than 4,000 prom-bound high school seniors and 8th-graders swarmed the racks of gowns and suits at eight prom events that were held at UFT offices in the five boroughs during April and May. Students also had their pick of shoes, makeup and costume jewelry.

The UFT Family Child Care Providers Chapter packed Shanker Hall in Manhattan on May 11 to honor 25 members and one partner at the Provider Appreciation Awards Ceremony.

The winning artwork of 59 students was on exhibit at the second annual Inside/Outside: Young Artists Unite Against Bullying contest sponsored by the New York City Art Teachers Association/UFT on May 11 at union headquarters. The culminating awards ceremony included 200 participants.

The UFT Speech Improvement Chapter’s 12th annual Better Speech and Hearing Month Celebration honored speech providers and their students and showcased their winning projects at UFT headquarters in Manhattan on May 10.

Students and staff from 751M, the Manhattan School for Career Development, and Harvey Milk HS celebrated the new mural they created at 751M in the East Village at a ceremony on May 7.

UFT members laced up their running sneakers and hit the Coney Island boardwalk on May 5, 2018 for the fifth annual 5K run/walk, which raised money for the UFT Disaster Relief Fund.
