The UFT Hellenic American Educators Association’s annual celebration of Greek Independence Day at UFT headquarters in Manhattan on April 26 marked 197 years of Greece’s independence with a Greek buffet and a talk on “The Glories of Ancient Greece.”
The second annual UFT District 11 Scholarship Dinner Dance drew nearly 550 revelers to the Villa Barone Manor in the Throggs Neck section of the Bronx on April 25 for an evening of celebration that honored special members of the school community.
Two students were awarded a $1,000 scholarship each and UFT members and community supporters also were honored for making outstanding contributions to the school community at the annual District 24 Scholarship Dinner Dance on April 24 at Russo’s on the Bay restaurant, Howard Beach.
