Shanker Scholarship Awards 2017

This year, 181 graduates from New York City public high schools and eight postgraduate students shared in $1 million in UFT Shanker scholarships presented at an awards ceremony and reception at union headquarters. The scholarship fund, started 48 years ago by teachers, has supported the academic achievement of 8,000 students.

NYCATA/UFT Young Artists Unite Against Bullying

Student artists from grades 2 to 12 took to the theme of uniting against bullying by creating art that is colorful, inventive and moving. Their art teachers sent the work to NYCATA/UFT to be exhibited at UFT headquarters on May 19 in a ceremony with award certificates and gifts of art supplies.
