New Retiree Luncheon 2015

The UFT honored 900 new retirees at its annual New Retiree Luncheon at the Hilton Hotel on Nov. 24, with a special morning award ceremony for those who served as chapter leaders during their careers. UFT President Michael Mulgrew and Retired Teachers Chapter Leader Tom Murphy welcomed them and acknowledged their service to the city’s children.

Mulgrew visits PS 106, IS 349 and IS 347, Brooklyn

UFT President Michael Mulgrew met with teachers and other staff at Brooklyn’s PS 106 on Dec. 11, a day after President Barack Obama signed the new education law reducing testing’s role and Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s task force called for a rewrite of Common Core standards. Mulgrew then moved on to meet with chapter leaders at nearby IS 349 and IS 347.

Changes to Alternate Assessment

There is a new computer-based assessment from Dynamic Learning Maps that will be used for Alternate Assessment students in ELA and math in 2016.
