“On the Wings of Workers: A Celebration of the Global History of Labor” was the theme of the Greater Metropolitan New York Social Studies Conference, which took place on Feb. 1 at UFT headquarters. The event, now in its 54th year, offered workshops on labor history and featured special guest Peter Yarrow, from Peter, Paul and Mary.
UFT President Michael Mulgrew visited PS 222 in Brooklyn on Jan. 30 to present the school with a plaque from the UFT for winning recognition as a National Blue Ribbon School for excellence in academic achievement. Mulgrew shared the latest in education news and spoke about the need for a new contract. He also answered educators’ questions about evaluations and health care.
