Meet the new VP for Middle Schools

The UFT’s new vice president for middle schools, Richard Mantell, introduced himself and gave a warm welcome to the nearly 100 middle school educators and chapter leaders who came to the union’s Bronx borough office to meet him on Nov. 12. Mantell answered questions from the educators and discussed the year ahead, including the union’s hopes for a more collaborative relationship with our new mayor-elect. He told teachers that the union is fighting for their rights with union-initiated grievances in the new teacher evaluation system and discussed the community learning schools, which are well-represented in the Bronx.
