UFT President Mulgrew visits DeWitt Clinton HS

At a morning visit, UFT President Michael Mulgrew spoke to 75 members at DeWitt Clinton HS in the Bronx about how the DOE causes large high schools like Clinton to fail by overloading them with high-needs students. He also said the union would seek to revise the new teacher evaluation system as part of contract negotiations with the next administration. He praised the teachers for staying strong in the face of a sustained assault from the DOE. “They were trying to close you. Period. End of story,” he said. “But you’ve weathered the storm, and DeWitt Clinton will not close.”
