LearnUFT courses in the Bronx

LearnUFT courses are now available at the UFT's Bronx borough office! The fee to register is $30 per course for teachers and $15 per course for paraprofessionals. Participants will receive two CTLE hours. Courses are available for both teachers and paraprofessionals. In order to ensure that you are not signing up for a course you have already registered for or attended, please check to be sure you are registering for the correct session.

Upcoming Sessions

| 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm

In this LearnUFT workshop for Bronx teachers and paraprofessionals, participants will examine beliefs about home language and culture, consider the value of strengthening a child's first language to foster learning and develop proficiency in English and explore strategies to scaffold instruction. Two CTLE hours will be provided.

| 9:00 am – 11:00 am

In this LearnUFT workshop for Bronx teachers and paraprofessionals, participants will explore research-based core principles as a frame for ENL instruction, practice engaging instructional strategies to increase ELL students' access to content and build a toolbox of techniques for integrated ENL classrooms.

| 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm

In this LearnUFT workshop for Bronx teachers and paraprofessionals, participants will determine the components of effective co-teaching and build a toolbox of techniques for the integrated ENL classroom.

| 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm

In this LearnUFT workshop for Bronx teachers and paraprofessionals, participants will describe the various student attributes for their designated language proficiency levels, use the New Language Progressions to design instruction for ELL students and incorporate strategies to increase interaction and critical thinking for ELLs. Two CTLE hours will be provided.

In this Member Assistance Program workshop for social workers, participants will learn how trauma affects the body, brain and behavior and discuss triggers and coping skills. Two CE hours will be offered.

In this Member Assistance Program workshop for social workers, participants will explore various aspects of social-emotional learning and models being used in schools. Two CE hours will be offered.
