LearnUFT courses in Manhattan

LearnUFT courses are now available at the UFT's Manhattan borough office! The fee to register is $30 per course for teachers and $15 per course for paraprofessionals. Participants will receive two CTLE hours. Courses are available for both teachers and paraprofessionals. In order to ensure that you are not signing up for a course you have already registered for or attended, please check to be sure you are registering for the correct session.

Upcoming Sessions

| 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm

In this Member Assistance Program workshop for high school social workers, participants will discuss signs of teenage abuse, different forms of abuse, how the police can help and available resources. Two CE hours will be offered.

| 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

In this LearnUFT workshop for Manhattan teachers and paraprofessionals, participants will identify the underlying causes of challenging student behavior and explore strategies to support students' social-emotional development. Two CTLE hours will be offered.

| 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm

In this LearnUFT workshop for Manhattan teachers and paraprofessionals, participants will describe various student attributes for language proficiency levels and use the New Language Progressions to design instruction for ELL students. Two CTLE hours will be offered.

| 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm

In this LearnUFT workshop for Manhattan teachers and paraprofessionals, participants will practice strategies for engaging students productively in the writing process, make connections between pre-writing activities and the writing process and experience activities that facilitate writing through speaking and listening. Two CTLE hours will be available.

| 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

In this Member Assistance Program workshop for social workers, participants will learn a brief history of domestic violence from a social justice perspective and why this is an important topic in school settings. Two CE hours will be offered.

| 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm

In this Member Assistance Program workshop for elementary school social workers, participants will practice using strength-based language to help facilitate difficult conversations. Two CE hours will be offered.

| 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm

In this Member Assistance Program workshop for social workers, participants will learn how to identify signs and symptoms of vicarious trauma and how to respond. Two CE hours will be offered.
