Contract 2019-22: Health benefits

  • All contracts in this bargaining round were contingent on New York City reaching a health savings deal with the Municipal Labor Committee, the umbrella group of nearly 100 municipal labor unions including the UFT. On July 1, the city and the MLC reached an agreement on a plan to save $1.1 billion in employee health care costs that allowed the municipal unions to maintain premium-free health insurance for city employees.
  • Contract update: City of New York employees, and employees of Participating Employers, hired on or after January 1, 2022, and their eligible dependents, will be eligible to enroll in all City Health Benefits Program health plan options, not only Emblem Health HIP.
