Welcome to the Social Workers & Psychologists Chapter
Welcome to the Social Workers and Psychologists Chapter website. It is an honor and a privilege to serve as your newly elected chapter leader.
We still have two positions to fill on our executive board: recording secretary and corresponding secretary. The corresponding secretary’s duties include managing the chapter’s correspondence. The recording secretary keeps minutes of meetings and maintains our records on chapter meetings. Serving on the executive board is a very rewarding way to become more involved in our chapter and union. Please let me know if you are interested or would like more information on either of these positions.
You can find a list of all our executive board members on our chapter representatives page.
A wide variety of information is available to you under the Resources and You Should Know sections of our chapter website including links to the special education complaint and workload dispute forms. I have listed relevant professional organizations that may be of help to you. If you know of any additional resources of organizations that are crucial to our work, please let me know.
I also want to encourage you to visit professional websites for social workers and psychologists to improve your professional skills and knowledge. This is the core of who we are as professionals. I also urge you to take online continuing education courses, go to professional developments and seminars and read professional articles from scientific journals.
As your chapter leader, I am here to support your needs and the entire UFT is ready to help you. Remember that we are our union. Each of us has to do our part to keep our union strong. I encourage you to come to chapter meetings and union events including joining the many UFT members who will be at the Labor Day parade at the end of the summer.
I am available to answer your questions either by phone at 212-598-7724 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please bookmark this page and check back for important events, news and items as well. We will try to keep the website as up-to-date as possible. I look forward to your suggestions and input as this is your chapter.
