QVC shopping, June 16

QVC shopping: Spend Saturday, June 16, at the QVC Studio in Westchester, Pa. Cost of $80 includes a guided tour of the studio, a visit to the stores, lunch, round-trip transportation and tip for the driver. Bus departs from UFT headquarters at 8:15 a.m. and returns at 7 p.m. Bus departs from 97-77 Queens Blvd. at 7:45 a.m. and returns at 7:30 p.m. Indicate on the coupon your pickup location.

Jazz Festival in Montreal, July 30-July 4

Spend June 30-July 4 at the Jazz Festival in Montreal, Canada. Includes four nights of hotel accommodations at the Holiday Inn; breakfast at the hotel; dinner for four nights; one concert ticket; visit to the casino; sightseeing tour of Montreal; roundtrip transportation; tip for driver and baggage handling. The bus will stop at Lake George (lunch is on your own). The hotel has a pool. Bring your passport as you will need it to enter into Canada. Trip to Rhinebeck County Fair, Aug. 23

Spend Thursday, Aug. 23, at the Dutchess County Fair in upstate New York. Stroll through the fair’s 160 acres of agricultural exhibits, horticultural displays and live farm animals while sampling local produce from the food vendors. An antiques museum, a blacksmith’s shop and a one-room schoolhouse will take you back to a quieter, simpler time — then back to the present for ample shopping opportunities and arts and crafts. Cost per person is $61, which includes transportation and tip to the driver. Bus departs at 8 a.m. from 97-77 Queens Blvd. in Rego Park and 8:30 a.m. from UFT headquarters. Free tickets for teachers to Cymbeline

Teachers, especially English teachers, are invited to claim complimentary tickets to the Fiasco Theater's production of Shakespeare’s Cymbeline at the Barrow Street Theatre. UFT Defensive Driving Course

A driving course that can save you money and maybe your life!

For credit you must attend one full-day course or both parts of a two-session course, in sequence (if you miss the first class you cannot take the second). Limit: 40 students. Currently being offered at these borough offices: *Members who have their auto insurance policies with MetLife through NYSUT are entitled to a $30 refund if they take a NYSUT-sponsored course; if the insurance is through an outside agency, the refund offer does not apply. Also, family members will only be reimbursed if they are NYSUT members. Refunds will be received approximately six weeks after course completion.

  • BRONX: One session, 8:30 a.m.-3:45 p.m.: April 21; May 19; June 16.
  • BROOKLYN: One session, 4-7:15 p.m.: April 17 & 18; June 5 & 6.
  • MANHATTAN: One session, 8:30 a.m.-3:45 p.m.: Apr. 29; May 20; June 23.
  • QUEENS: One session, 9:00 a.m.-4:15 p.m.; April 21; May 12; June 9
  • STATEN ISLAND: One session, 8:30 a.m.-3:45 p.m., May 5; June 17.

Cost: $35 per person. Checks must be received one month prior to first preference and must be made payable to UFT/Safe Driving. Write “Safe Driving” on envelope. Refunds: If you cannot attend, please submit a written request with a copy of your canceled check (front and back). Allow four weeks to receive refund. Refunds can only be given during the current school year that original request was submitted. Credit: You may take a course only once every three years for insurance reduction benefits, and once every 18 months for point reduction. For active members only.
