UFT members also are members of the AFT, which offers benefits, discounts and promotions to its members with its AFT+ Member Benefits Program. These benefits can only be accessed by visiting the AFT+ Member Benefits page and logging in with your UFT NYSUT member ID. (If you do not have an AFT member card, you will need to create an account. Make sure your last name matches the last name on your UFT card. Enter your UFT or NYSUT ID number. Your "local union number" for the UFT is 00002.)
Auto and home insurance — AFT members save up to 10% on policies from MetLife.
Disability income — This is a voluntary insurance program with MetLife that will provide nontaxable replacement income if you are unable to work due to an accident or extended sickness.
Life insurance — New members can apply for $5,000 of term life insurance with no premium payment required.
Long-term care insurance — AFT+ partners with LTCR to provide insurance for paying for nursing homes or home health care.
Senior term life insurance — AFT+ provides economical Senior Term Life insurance coverage for older, active and retired union members and their spouses wanting the peace of mind of helping to ensure that their families do not inherit all of their bills.
Credit card — The AFT+ credit card program offers three options.
Credit and budget counseling — Members are eligible for a free consumer credit counseling session, budget analysis and money management advice.
Emergency Assistance Plus — Members receive access to a 24-hour year-round toll-free number to call for help if you get sick or hurt while traveling in the U.S. or abroad. Services include medical evacuation, medical assistance, assistance for companions or pets, auto retrieval and travel assistance.
Mortgage program — The UnionPlus mortgage program, with financing available through Wells Fargo, is available to union members, their parents and their children.
Real estate rewards — Members can earn $500 cash back for every $100,000 in home value (an average of $1,173) through this rewards program powered by SIRVA.
Save My Home hotline — Members facing foreclosure have access to confidential, free counseling provided by the nonprofit Money Management International.
DinnerTime app — Members save 40% on this personalized meal planning app.
Restaurants — Through UnionPlus, members can save at restaurants like IHOP, Macaroni Grill, Maggianos, Carraba's, Johnny Rockets, Little Caesars, Chili's, Applebee's and more.
Robert G. Porter Scholars Program — Four-year, $8,000 post-secondary scholarships and one-time $1,000 grants are available to students who are dependents of AFT members.
UnionPlus Scholarship Program — Scholarship amounts of $500 to $4,000 are available to current and retired union members, their spouses and their dependent children.
AFT Advantage — An online shopping program for AFT members. Save 10 to 70 percent on electronics, apparel, tickets, flowers, gifts and more.
Magazines — Discounts on magazine subscriptions like The Economist, The New Yorker and others.
Consumer Reports — Members get special rates.
Goodyear Tires — Members save 10% on tires and car service.
Car sales — Members can use TrueCar to get up-front pricing from local dealers. Members receive a $100 rebate on purchases of new, union-made cars and a $200 rebate on purchases of new, union-made EPA Green Cars.
Flowers — Members save 20% on flowers and plants from Teleflora.
Travel and Entertainment
Rosetta Stone language training — The AFT and Rosetta Stone are partnering to offer Rosetta Stone’s award-winning language learning programs to AFT members at special pricing. Members can choose one of 30 languages with two learning formats: regular Rosetta Stone with access to all available levels of one language; or Rosetta Stone Pro, with additional access to live tutoring sessions with native-language speakers, games and activities and more.
Car rentals — Members save up to 25% on rentals from Avis, Budget, Hertz, Dollar, Thrifty and Payless.
Concerts and events — Through UnionPlus, members can save on entertainment events like NFL tickets, Broadway shows and more.
Mexico travel benefits — As a result of a groundbreaking agreement between the AFT and National Union of Education Workers in Mexico (SNTE), AFT members are now able to take advantage of travel and other SNTE benefits when traveling to Mexico.
Motor Club — For $69 a year, union families receive 24-hour emergency roadside assistance, including emergency towing, battery boosts, flat tire changes, lockout services, fuel delivery, gas rebates and more.
Movie tickets — Members save up to 24% at AMC, Regal and Cinemark theaters.
Theme parks — Members receive discounts at Disney, Six Flags, Adventureland, Colonial Williamsburg, Crayola Experience, Dollywood, Dorney Park, Funtown Splashtown USA, Hersheypark, Kings Dominion, LEGOLAND, SeaWorld, Sesame Place and Universal Studios.
