Aboard the UFT float, it was smiles and waves for parade-goers.

Crowds lining Fifth Avenue for the 2014 NYC Pride March on June 29 cheered the 100 UFT participants who carried the union banner, wore specially designed T-shirts and whistled for attention. It was the second year that UFT members and their families joined in the annual parade that for 45 years has been the highlight of Pride Week. Anthony Harmon, the UFT director of parent and community outreach who organized the UFT contingent, called it “a wonderful day and wonderful way to celebrate diversity and respect for all, the theme for our union float.” City Councilman Danny Dromm, a former teacher, joined UFT members aboard the float.
