  • IEP 101: An Introduction to IEPs (LearnUFT Bronx) Workshop 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

  • Understanding and Working with Students with ADHD (LearnUFT Bronx) Workshop 9:00 am - 11:00 am

    In this LearnUFT workshop for Bronx teachers and paraprofessionals, participants will define Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), identify characteristics that signal ADHD, and explore strategies for supporting students with ADHD. Two CTLE hours will be offered.

  • Integrated Co-Teaching Models (LearnUFT Bronx) Workshop 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

    In this LearnUFT workshop for Bronx teachers and paraprofessionals, participants will explore the six models of co-teaching and consider how flexibility in teaching strategies can enhance student learning outcomes. Participants will also utilize a variety of instructional practices to strengthen the co-teaching partnership. Two CTLE hours will be offered.

  • Roll the Dice: Fostering Mathematical Fluency (LearnUFT Staten Island) Workshop 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

    In this LearnUFT session for Staten Island paraprofessionals, participants will be exposed to the research that suggests games are a way to build conceptual understanding and fluency, play games that are designed to develop place value and algebraic thinking and reasoning skills and plan adaptations that allow participation by diverse groups of learners. This workshop is for paraprofessionals only. Two CTLE hours will be awarded.

    In this LearnUFT workshop for Queens teachers and paraprofessionals, participants will describe the characteristics of language performance at each proficiency level. Participants will also be able to name strategies that can be implemented at each proficiency level to provide students with access to mathematical problems. Two CTLE hours will be awarded.

  • From Here to There: Engaging in Historical Thinking (LearnUFT Queens) Workshop 9:00 am - 11:00 am

    In this LearnUFT workshop for Queens teachers and paraprofessionals, participants will explore strategies for engaging students in historical thinking using arts aligned tools to build historical awareness. Participants will also analyze multiple sources in order to make claims as they interpret historical events. Two CTLE hours will be awarded.

    In this LearnUFT workshop for Brooklyn teachers and paraprofessionals, participants will develop an understanding of how the use of manipulatives in the math classroom impacts student mathematical thinking and builds conceptual knowledge. Participants will also engage in productive struggle with the use of hands on materials to explore and apply mathematical vocabulary. Two CTLE hours will be offered.

  • Strategic Learning: The Five Guiding Principles of ELL Instruction (LearnUFT Brooklyn) Workshop 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

    Brooklyn, NY

    In this LearnUFT workshop for Brooklyn teachers and paraprofessionals, participants will explore research-based core principles as a frame for ENL instruction, practice engaging instructional strategies to increase ELL students’ access to content, reflect on how specific strategies promote integration of content and methodology, and build a toolbox of techniques for integrated ENL classrooms. Two CTLE hours will be offered.
