I attended the UFT’s Future in Focus career fair on Oct. 17 with 30 students from Beacon HS. At the fair, there was a wide array of unions represented at different tables. The students were able to ask questions about different unionized career paths. The union representatives at each table were incredibly welcoming and gave the students lots of information and individual attention.

The students learned about lucrative careers that they never could have imagined and received handouts with clear pathways on how to get there. My students came away feeling empowered and informed.

This event is an incredible opportunity to not only celebrate unionism but also to celebrate the opportunities that we, as UFT members, share with our students to teach them and open up information on the many post-secondary paths they can take!
