Membership Requirements

All candidates must be members of the RTC as of Tuesday, April 16, 2024.

Nominations

  1. Officer candidates must submit a nominating form with 10 member sponsors’ signatures.
  2. Executive Board candidates must submit a nominating form with five member sponsors’ signatures.
  3. Delegate Assembly candidates must submit a nominating form with one member sponsor’s signature.
  4. Nominating forms will be available on March 14, 2024, at all UFT borough offices, on the website, or by calling the UFT election hotline at 212-331-6310.
  5. Nominating forms must be returned to the UFT to Yasmin Colon, 50 Broadway, 13th Floor, New York, NY 10004, by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.

Balloting information

  • Any group of candidates may join together to form a slate of officers, Executive Board members and Delegate Assembly delegates. Information is available from Nina Tribble, the RTC election committee chair, via email at RTCelectionchair@uft.org.
  • Candidates may run as independents if they are not on any slate.
  • Ballots will be mailed on or about May 10, 2024.
  • Candidates’ statements will be mailed with the ballots. Each slate is entitled to a statement which may not exceed two sides of an 8½-by-11-inch sheet. An independent officer or Executive Board candidate not on a slate is entitled to a statement not exceeding 50 words. An independent Delegate Assembly candidate not on a slate is entitled to a statement not exceeding 25 words. Only one statement will be included.
  • All copies must be submitted in typewritten form. The deadline for the submission of statement copy is Tuesday, April 16, 2024.
  • The deadline for the receipt of ballots at the American Arbitration Association (AAA) is 8 a.m. on Friday, June 14, 2024.
  • Ballots will be counted on Friday, June 14, 2024, at the AAA, 120 Broadway, New York, NY 10271.
  • A retiree member who does not receive a ballot should call the AAA at 800-529-5218.

If circumstances require a change of any of the dates, adequate notice will be given in the New York Teacher and other UFT communications.
