WHEREAS, the contract between the MTA and the 40,000 members of the Transit Workers Union expired May 15; and

WHEREAS, the two sides have been unable to come to an agreement, raising the possibility of a transit workers’ strike; therefore be it

RESOLVED, the United Federation of Teachers supports the TWU as they negotiate on behalf of their members and supports a fair contract for transit workers; and be it further

RESOLVED, the UFT strongly urges the MTA to bargain in good faith, without resorting to personal attacks on TWU leaders.
