New York City health plans
As a UFT member, you have a comprehensive health benefits package, which includes a choice of health plans that city unions jointly negotiate for their members and the supplemental benefits that the UFT Welfare Fund provides.
There are a range of city health plans to choose from, including no-cost options such as HIP or basic GHI to plans that will require a monthly premium. Employees hired between July 1, 2019 and December 31, 2021, and their eligible dependents, will only be eligible to enroll in the EmblemHealth HIP HMO Preferred Plan, and must remain in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan for the first year (365 days) of employment. DOE employees hired on or after January 1, 2022, and their eligible dependents, will be eligible to enroll in all City Health Benefits Program health plan options.
Information regarding your city health plan coverage can be found on the city's website.
