Empowering educators in the age of artificial intelligence
The National Academy for AI Instruction helps educators meet the challenges of AI in schools and in society. We put educators’ voices first, ensuring AI in education is safe, fair, effective and ethical. Our mission is to strengthen the human side of teaching while preparing educators and students to use AI responsibly, creatively and critically. We host in-person sessions at UFT Headquarters, 52 Broadway (NYC) and collaborate nationally with educators, districts and mission-aligned partners.

Our focus
- Human-centered innovation: Educators explore how to create AI agents, adaptive lessons and scaffolded materials that keep compassion and creativity at the heart of learning.
- Centering educators: AI should empower, not replace, the human connection. Every session focuses on how teachers can shape, adapt and lead AI’s role in schools.
- Supporting equity & access: We design inclusive trainings that make AI a tool for access, especially for multilingual learners, students with disabilities and under-resourced schools.
- Building AI literacy: We help educators and students understand AI systems, bias, data privacy, and safeguards so they can use technology responsibly and ethically.
- Reinforcing trust & safety: Every Academy program aligns with the AFT Guardrails, emphasizing ethical design, transparency and teacher control.
