New member support
Connection and camaraderie are essential during your first years in the NYC Department of Education. The Member Assistance Program offers events and member mentoring to support the UFT's newest members.
New member events
The UFT’s Member Assistance Program, in collaboration with the New Member Committee, hosts fun and engaging events across all five boroughs throughout the school year. These gatherings are designed to help new members connect with one another, build community, and feel supported as they navigate their roles while celebrating the meaningful work, they do for New York City’s public-school students.
Partners Through Experience program
Partners Through Experience connects new UFT members with retired members for mentorship and collegial support. This voluntary program brings together a new member (1-3 years of experience) with a recent retiree (1-5 years retired) to form a confidential and collaborative relationship.
If you’re a member interested in joining this informal, nonjudgmental support program, please contact MAP at 1‑212‑701‑9620 or email us at map [at] uft [dot] org (map[at]uft[dot]org).
Registration for upcoming events will be posted when available.
