Register to attend a free UCS professional learning session titled Word Nerds: Teaching Students to Love Vocabulary. A strong vocabulary is key to comprehension, communication and confident learning. Come learn to impart this powerful gift to your students. Together, we will explore techniques to explicitly teach what words mean and strategies to foster curiosity about language and to embed vocabulary instruction across all content areas. In this workshop for Administrative Education Officers and Education Analysts, participants will learn the fundamentals of effective prompting, discover how to get better results from AI tools and explore practical uses for AI in your professional life. 

This course provides a practical, comprehensive overview of bone health across the lifespan. Participants will explore how bones function and change with age, factors that influence bone strength and bone loss, and the roles of nutrition, exercise, hormones, lifestyle, and overall health. This workshop is $10 for UFT members and $30 for non-members to attend, and registrants will earn two Continuing Education credits upon completion.

In honor of LGBTQ+ History Month, the UFT Pride Committee is thrilled to invite middle and high school educators to the Making Gay History teacher symposium and celebration. This day-long event celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Making Gay History podcast and the launch of new teacher-created lessons designed to help you seamlessly incorporate LGBTQ+ history into the American story. 

Take one of our classes to obtain certification in necessary lifesaving skills, including first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the use of automated external defibrillators, for child care providers. Each four-hour class is designed to meet the needs of licensed, registered and legally exempt (informal) providers. Participants who complete the class will receive a certificate of completion and a certification card indicating proficiency in these lifesaving skills. We offer classes in English and Spanish for each time slot.
