The enthusiasm is contagious as guests cheer and wave napkins to celebrate the honorees.

Nearly 350 school staff, administrators, community members and local elected officials celebrated at District 11’s fourth UFT Scholarship Dinner Dance on May 6 at Villa Barone Manor in the Bronx. “It’s such a great collaborative district, and they all just come out to support each other,” said Dana Falciglia, the UFT’s District 11 representative and the event co-chair. The district honored four UFT members: PS 153 secretary Karen Kibler, PS 89 art teacher Will Goertzel, PS 76 paraprofessional Jessica DiMuro and MS 529 secretary Felicia Gentile. Stefania Mustafa, the PS 108 principal, also was honored, as were four students, who received laptops. The raffle for themed gift baskets was another event highlight. Kibler, who has been at PS 153 for 16 years, said the event was a great opportunity to socialize with colleagues outside work. “It was nice to be acknowledged and appreciated by my staff,” she said.
