The Delegate Assembly on May 14 overwhelmingly approved a resolution that declares that individuals, groups or organizations that are not represented under the UFT constitution should not be allowed to interfere in the UFT elections or other activities.
In her impassioned introduction of the resolution, Terrain Chambers Reeves, the chapter leader at Edward R. Murrow HS and the author of the resolution, said that the UFT “does not need outside interference from nonmembers, and nonmembers have no business meddling in our affairs.”
At the same meeting, the delegates voted to endorse seven candidates running in the Democratic primary for open seats on the City Council and 32 Council candidates who are running for reelection.
