In honor of Physical Therapy Month in October this year, we asked therapists to nominate a colleague who does outstanding work. We heard about some truly remarkable physical therapists, including Michael Konstalid, who works in PS 10, PS 154 and PS 321 in Brooklyn. Michael uses his carpentry expertise to build adaptive furniture for his students. He also travels around Brooklyn every week to support other physical therapists. We chatted with Michael about his unique approach to physical therapy.

This October, we'll receive a one-time, lump-sum payment. If you are a Board of Education Retirement System (BERS) member and take advantage of the Tax-Deferred Annuity (TDA) program to save for your retirement, you may increase your TDA contributions with income from your October lump-sum payment.

The DOE advised us that SESIS payments for OT/PTs will be issued as scheduled on Friday, Oct. 6. But the DOE just informed us that it is being done as a supplementary payment, which is why you do not yet see it in the payroll portal.
