The strategies employed by educators at Brooklyn's Franklin Delano Roosevelt High School to protect their immigrant school community have been replicated by schools across the city, earning them a Team High School Award at this year's UFT Academic High Schools Awards.

Over 100 students, family members and educators gathered in Shanker Hall on May 21 to celebrate Students of NYC, a UFT social media initiative highlighting the stories of middle and high school students.

The UFT’s New Member Initiative and Member Assistance Program welcomed new educators this school year with activity-based events in all five boroughs to foster fun, community and learning. 


More than 250 guests gathered in Shanker as the UFT School Secretaries Chapter honored 25 school secretaries at its annual Awards Soiree.

The UFT raised about $7,000 at this year’s AIDS Walk in Central Park, which raised money for organizations specializing in HIV/AIDS services, public health and social justice.

School social workers gathered at UFT headquarters and online on March 6 for a day of professional development and networking to mark the 10th annual Social Workers Appreciation Day.

UFT members celebrated Irish American culture and contribution to the mosaic that is New York City during a celebration at UFT headquarters on Feb. 5.

Nearly 1,300 attendees gathered online and at UFT headquarters for the 20th annual UFT Clinicians Appreciation Day for a mix of professional development, networking and for the first time, an awards ceremony honoring the School Psychologist and School Social Worker of the year.
