WHEREAS, Governor Kathy Hochul has announced a special election to fill three vacancies in the New York State Legislature to be held on February 3, 2026; and

WHEREAS, candidates for special elections are appointed by the respective county political party committees; and

WHEREAS, the seats to be filled are Assembly Districts 36, formerly held by Zohran Mamdani, Assembly District 74, formerly held by Harvey Epstein, and Senate District 47, formerly held by Brad Hoylman-Sigal; and

WHEREAS, the Queens Democratic Committee has appointed Diana Moreno to run on the Democratic line for the 36th Assembly District seat; and

WHEREAS, the Manhattan Democratic Committee has appointed Keith Powers to run on the Democratic line for the 74th Assembly District seat; and

WHEREAS, the Manhattan Democratic Committee has appointed Erik Bottcher to run on the Democratic line for the 47th Senate District seat; and

WHEREAS, these candidates have shown their support for the labor movement and working families throughout their time in office; therefore be it

RESOLVED, that Diana Moreno, Keith Powers and Erik Bottcher will be the endorsed candidates by the United Federation of Teachers for the Special Elections on February 3, 2026.
