Resolution to support migrant families with children in New York City public schools
The UFT will support schools by advocating for appropriate funding based on the number of migrant students for additional staffing, school and classroom resources, professional support and training. The UFT will also advocate for migrant families by providing them with the information necessary to access services to acclimate them to life in New York City.
Resolution on discontinuing use of DESSA
The DOE should not continue using the DESSA screener for all NYC DOE students and schools and should instead reallocate funding allotted to the implementation of the DESSA contract to providing social emotional interventions and support services to students identified in the initial screening process.
Resolution to improve Tier 6 benefits
The UFT, along with other public sector unions and the AFL-CIO, will continue the campaign to bring improvements and enhanced benefits to Tier 6 members.
Resolution endorsing Victoria Lee for election to the NYC Teachers’ Retirement Board
The United Federation of Teachers endorsed Victoria Lee for election as a Teacher-Member of the Teachers’ Retirement Board of the City of New York for the remainder of Debra Penny’s term.
Resolution in support of unions at Starbucks and Amazon
The UFT supports the Starbucks and Amazon unions and will stand and demonstrate as necessary with Amazon and Starbucks unions including turning members out to local actions.
Resolution calling for the acknowledgment of the contribution of the Haitian Revolution in abolishing slavery in the United States
The United Federation of Teachers will affirm that the Haitian Revolution was the largest and most successful slave revolt in the world, thus inspiring the dismantling of slavery in the United States.
