UFT Resolutions
Resolution on domestic violence in the wake of the murder of UFT member Jeanine Cammarata
The UFT will increase awareness of domestic violence by providing materials and professional development so that members in schools are aware of the signs of domestic violence and how to respond.
Resolution in support of 2019 May Day
The United Federation of Teachers will fully support and participate in the May Day 2019 rally at 5:30 p.m. in Columbus Circle and the subsequent march to Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue planned by labor groups, immigrant right groups, faith leaders and other advocates for the working class.
Resolution to oppose the use of weapons in school-based safety drills
The United Federation of Teachers categorically opposes the use of weapons of any sort against teachers, students, or anyone present in schools in drills or any school-sponsored activities.
Resolution on appropriate accountability measures for transfer schools
The UFT, in collaboration with its state-wide affiliate NYSUT, will continue to work with the New York State Department of Education and the New York State Board of Regents to develop accountability determinations and interventions for transfer schools in the New York State ESSA plan that make sense for the students in these schools and that recognize the progress transfer schools make in serving their students.
Resolution to modify the DOE student enrollment form to include parental/guardian veteran status
The UFT resolves to ask the Department of Education to modify the student Information/registration form to include a question about parents’/guardians’ veteran status.
Resolution in support of the nurses at Staten Island University South/Northwell Health
Nurses organized by the UFT will not cross picket lines or work overtime as a replacement worker at Staten Island University South/Northwell Health.
