The UFT urges City Council Committee on Education to amend Intro 2211 to not transfer authority over school safety agents to DOE authority.

Resolution strengthening our commitment to lower class size and hold the NYC DOE accountable for enforcement of class size reduction

We have a City Council that is considering passing a once-in-a-generation bill that would make physical space per student into administrative code, to make it the city’s responsibility to give each child the physical space they deserve to remain safe and provide us a legal recourse to pursue when class size capacities are violated.

Resolution urging the City Council to select a woman to be the next City Council Speaker

The union will urge all Council members to select a woman for City Council Speaker when the new Council convenes in January 2022.

Resolution on UFT endorsement for City Council offices

The UFT endorses 48 candidates to represent their respective districts as City Council members for the 2022-23 two-year term.

Resolution on UFT endorsement for mayor, city comptroller, public advocate and boroughwide offices

At the recommendation of the union’s political action team, the UFT endorses Eric Adams for the New York City mayor, Brad Lander for New York City comptroller, and Jumaane Williams for New York City public advocate; and the UFT endorses Mark Levine for the Manhattan borough president and Mark Murphy for Staten Island borough president.
