The UFT Retired Teachers Chapter, in collaboration with Hands Off NYC, will host a training session on immigrant support and awareness at UFT headquarters. Join us to learn how to provide support to your immigrant neighbors, friends and colleagues as the Trump administration’s crackdown continues to harm our communities.

Register your students for a college and networking event hosted by UFT Team High School in collaboration with the UFT Office of Parent and Community Engagement. For each college fair, teachers may register students for a one-hour visit. 

All new teachers and school-related professionals applying for New York State certification must take this state mandated workshop. 

Register for the UFT Teacher Center course, NYCPS Hidden Voices: Untold Stories of Jewish Americans in U.S. History. The course consists of two sessions. Participants will discover the rich and complex identities of Jewish Americans throughout U.S. history and gain insight into cultural, religious, ethnic and historical dimensions that have shaped Jewish American experiences over time. They will also learn practical strategies to integrate the NYCPS Hidden Voices: Jewish Americans in U.S. History project into their teaching. Earn one hour of CTLE credit per hour on instruction. 

All teachers applying for NYS certification must take this state-mandated two hour workshop. School staffers can use techniques and practical approaches to avoid and defuse violent situations in school. This workshop gives participants an understanding of the dynamics of assaultive, aggressive behavior and tools to avoid becoming victimized in school.

At this clinic for all UFT members in the Teachers' Retirement System, we'll introduce the retirement planning process, provide information about understanding your annual benefits statement and discuss the death benefit for survivors when a member dies.

At this clinic for UFT members in Tier 6 of the Teachers' Retirement System, we'll talk about pension milestones, how to calculate your reimbursement for unused CAR days when you retire, final average salary and more.

In this workshop, attendees will learn practical strategies for supporting the literacy of multilingual learners. This session will take place at your school via Zoom during scheduled Monday professional development time. Participants will earn one hour of CTLE credit by completing this session. 

Brooklyn paraprofessionals are invited to register for a remote UFT Teacher Center learning series designed to explore meaningful strategies for literacy instruction. In this workshop, attendees will learn practical strategies for supporting the literacy of multilingual learners. In this workshop, attendees will learn how morphology builds student vocabulary and how effective questioning promotes reading comprehension. This session will take place at your school via Zoom during scheduled Monday professional development time. Participants will earn one hour of CTLE credit by completing this session.

Substance use is changing and knowing what to look for can make a real difference. Middle school is a time when students are navigating major social, emotional, and developmental changes. As a middle school teacher, you may be among the first to notice shifts in behavior, mood, attendance, peer relationships, or academic functioning that could signal a student needs support. The UFT Member Assistance Program is offering Health Speaks, a training series designed to help members better understand current substance use trends, recognize warning signs, and feel more prepared to respond when someone may be at risk.

This required training provides New York mandated reporters the tools to recognize and report instances of suspected child abuse or maltreatment.

At this workshop tailored for District 5 educators seeking tenure, you’ll learn about the critical steps of the tenure process. We’ll also explore how tenure benefits students and study some exemplary tenure portfolios. Whether you're at the beginning of your journey or approaching your review, this workshop is designed to empower you on your path to tenure.
 

Join Bronx UFT Educational Liaison Latrice Curry for an informative workshop designed to help educators navigate New York State certification requirements and stay on track throughout their careers. Participants will learn how to access and manage their NYSED TEACH accounts, understand certification pathways and deadlines, monitor required application and registration requirements, and gain clarity on tenure eligibility and processes.

Register to attend OCFS Health and Safety Training for providers. The New York State Office of Children and Family Services requires that all new family or group child care providers complete a 15-hour state-approved training course before becoming a licensed child care provider. Participants must attend all three sessions of the course in the same cohort to receive certification. This training is NOT for informal providers.
