Providers Language and Literacy Exploration for Young Learners Program
Register for the UFT Professional Provider Education Program's Language and Literacy Exploration for Young Learners course! It is designed for early child care professionals, New York City licensed and registered family child care and group family child care providers and 3-K and pre-K DOE teachers. The LLEYL program provides guidance and strategies for daily child-centered activities that support language and literacy development of infants and toddlers. This five-session course includes engaging professional learning sessions, hands-on activities and free materials to implement LLEYL in your program.
Providers attending all five sessions will earn 20 hours of credit toward their 30-hour professional development requirement for OCFS topics one (principles of child development) and three (child day care program development). Teachers will earn 20 CTLE hours. Participants must attend all five sessions to complete the training and receive credit.
Methods of Teaching Language and Literacy for English Language Learners
Register for this graduate-level course designed for New York City Teachers. Participants can earn three A+ or P credits towards their salary differential and 45 CTLE hours in the education of English language learners. Each 15-session course can also be used to fulfill three semester hours of the "Methods of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages" requirement for state certification in English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).
