Membership card and app
The UFT mailed a membership card with a member ID number to every UFT member in May 2018. Your six-digit member ID number is on the back of your membership card. This UFT ID number is different from your employee ID number or your NYSUT ID number. You’ll use this number from now on to register for UFT events, and we’ll also ask for it when you visit or call a UFT borough office or request union forms — in fact, you will use it whenever you interact with the union. Keep your union card in your wallet so you have ready access to it.
The UFT app for members only is available for download, too. If you haven’t done so already, please download the union’s new app in the App Store if you have an Apple cellphone or in the Google Play Store if you have an Android device. You can use UFT-Mobile to access special member-only discounts for apparel, gifts, travel and more. The list of vendors that have agreed to offer special discounts to UFT members is growing each week. Among the companies that have signed on so far are Skechers, Ann Taylor LOFT, the Metropolitan Opera, Michaels, A.C. Moore and Enterprise car rental. If you have ideas about vendors you think we should approach, or if you have a question about using the UFT membership card to obtain a discount, email the union at email@example.com or call UFT customer service at 212-598-9512.
The app contains a digital version of the UFT membership card with your member ID number. You can use it to show you’re a UFT member, whether for UFT services or for member discounts. The QR code in the app — a square barcode that contains a matrix of dots — can be scanned at UFT events or when you visit a UFT borough office. On this app, you can also register for CTLE classes, update your address, export UFT events to your personal calendar, call a union office or the Welfare Fund, and stay informed about the union’s campaigns.
You log in to the app using the same username and password you use for the UFT website.
To replace a lost card, members should contact the UFT's Customer Services department at 212-598-9512 or customer firstname.lastname@example.org.
