Using the Advanced Search Feature:
Advanced Search
System allows an additional Course Review Feature that supports various combinations to review course information. Click on Browse System will return to the main UFT Educational Programs page. Click on New Search System will clear out previous search criteria.
Example: High School Workshops had been selected and Search listed down all the courses. By clicking on New Search system clears screen. By clicking on another selection such as Middle School Workshops and New Search, system will clear old information and populate screen with the new selection.
Course Search
Provides a variety of criteria to search the Teacher Center course offerings. Selecting one or multiple variables, will limit the number of search results returned. If there are no results are matching, change the criteria used.
How to Navigate:
Highlight any or multiple criteria searches, Click on Search and system will display what and if the criteria matches any searches.
For Example:
Click on Master’s Degree Program
Click on Master’s of Science in Instructional Technology.
Click on Search Button.
System will popup with either message:
“Please scroll down this page to review your search results”
or
“No results were found. Please modify your search criteria and try again.”
Search Criteria Categories:
UFT Program:
The UFT Educational Programs available for course review and registration.
If a specific program does not appear, it means there are no courses offerings at this time.
Example: Teacher Center Fall 2006
UFT Code
Alphanumeric code assigned to a course and used in the newspaper catalog.
Example T1 represents UFT Course Code assigned to a specific course for the UFT Course Catalog. T1.1, T1.2 represents the number of UFT Course Sections available.
UFT Classification
Within a UFT Program there could be one to many classifications. By selecting a classification and clicking on search, system will display all Courses relating to that classification.
Example: select Master’s Degree Program and click Search.
All related courses are shown.
UFT Sub-Classification
With a UFT Program there could be one to many sub-classifications. By selecting a sub-classification and clicking on search, system will display all courses relating to the sub-classification.
Example: select Master of Science in Education and click Search.
All related courses are shown.
UFT Title
Within a UFT Program there may be a specific Course Title that the member may want to review or register in. Information is the same as what is displayed in the newspaper catalog.
Example: select Basic Reading Instruction and click Search.
All related courses are shown.
College
Select a College Code for a specific University or department that is sponsoring courses, click Search, and the system will show all for that criteria.
Example: select Touro College and click Search. All related courses offered by Touro College are shown.
College Number
Code assigned to courses at certain college.
Example: select ATHL and click on Search. All related courses are shown.
Location
This is the physical location where the course will be taught.
Example: select UFT Manhattan Headquarters and click on Search. All program/courses that have that location are shown.
Start Date
Enter a specific Start Date, click Search and system will show for courses beginning on a specific Start Date.
Keywords
System will search the course descriptions and title, and return any results were the key word(s) are found. Enter the word: reading. Click on Search button and system searches for exact matches: reading
