Chapter Leader appreciation

New York Teacher

Responding to Chapter Leader Shoutout, “Kudos to Amy Craine, District 31 Pre-K Centers, Staten Island” (Dec. 18, 2025, issue):

I had the pleasure of working with Amy and her team for over eight years. I worked a very short time for that particular school building leader, but unfortunately, I have worked under several principals who fit that same description. I have been an educator for over 35 years, so if you are a school building administrator or know one, please share. Leading through fear and intimidation serves no one. If you truly want to put kids first, then you will treat the adults in the building the way you expect them to treat their students. The finest school building leaders I have worked with led by example, made their team feel valued and respected, recognized teachers’ strengths and weaknesses and provided resources to improve performance. I have been on both sides and neither one is easy. I am proud of how Amy Craine has rallied her team together for the sake of the students and their families. I have no doubt she has accomplished this through hard work and integrity. She exemplifies true leadership.
