When we founded the UFT Hispanic Affairs Committee in 1986, our goal was simple: to help inform members about cultural, pedagogical and professional issues affecting Hispanic educators.

The UFT Italian American Heritage Committee is dedicated to the study and preservation of the Italian American tradition and the many contributions of Italian Americans to the labor movement, the teaching profession and broader American culture.

 The UFT Irish American Heritage Committee aims to disseminate information about the culture, literature and history of the Irish people. We hope this information will be used by teachers in New York City public schools.

The Hellenic American Educators Association/UFT represents members of the Greek community working in the New York City public school system.

The UFT Jewish Heritage Committee's goal is to enhance the understanding among all educators of the role of the Jewish community in New York City.

The UFT Asian American Heritage Committee promotes awareness of Asian and Asian American cultures in the UFT and the broader labor movement.

The UFT Albanian American Heritage Committee is dedicated to the study and preservation of the Albanian American tradition and its many contributions to the labor movement, the teaching profession and American culture.

The UFT African Heritage Committee was organized to help promote cultural awareness within the labor movement.
