LearnUFT Wellness workshops: Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder

This lecture will address some underlying causes of ADHD and offer some alternative solutions to optimize children’s health. This two-part lecture will begin with a discussion of stress and its impact on the body. The second part, facilitated by Reiki Master Gina Duffy, will focus on breath work and meditation and lead us through a breath work experience. Both of these practices are essential in supporting the health and wellness of our NYC students. Participants will earn 2 CE hours upon completion of the course.

Many parents and educators feel frustrated about their children’s eating and sleeping habits, behavior and overall health. This lecture will be an opportunity to learn about wellness, nutrition, behavior and mindfulness tools to help your adolescent clients or your students. Participants will earn 2 CE hours upon completion of the course.

LearnUFT Wellness workshops: The Second Brain

Register for a professional development workshop for social workers and psychologists. Have you heard of the gut-brain connection? Researchers have found that a lesser-known nervous system in our guts (our “second brain”) communicates with the brain and plays a key role in our overall mental health. This lecture will discuss the mind-body connection and the relationship between our digestive health and mood. We'll pay particular attention to how one might use this process in a school-based setting. Participants will earn 2 CE hours upon completion of the course.

LearnUFT Wellness workshops: Foundations of Mindfulness

Register for a professional development workshop for social workers and psychologists. Mindfulness is a skill we all possess without necessarily knowing how to harness it for our own benefit. During this workshop presented by Calm Inc., the mindfulness and meditation app, participants will learn how to develop and strengthen that skill through formal and informal meditation practices so they can reduce stress and bring more presence into their schools and with their students. Participants will earn 2 CE hours upon completion of the course.

LearnUFT Wellness workshops: Wellness overview

Register for a professional development workshop for social workers and psychologists. There has been an increase in interest in and awareness of holistic medicine and wellness as a beneficial part of education. This is an introductory class on holistic medicine and how mental health practitioners might use its modalities to optimize and understand their own health and that of their clients. Parts of this workshop will focus on how educators can utilize these tools with their students. Participants will earn 2 CE hours upon completion of the course.
