You may be enjoying your retirement benefits now, but you know how hard we had to fight to fix the pension tiers. Our fellow UFT members who are in Tier 6 now need our help. As it stands, they must work until age 63 to collect an unreduced pension. You can help them by joining us at a Tier 6 rally in Albany with NYSUT on March 8! The rally will be full of performances, activism and union solidarity.

Welcoming educators serving 3-K, pre-K, K, 1st grade and 2nd grade, this event offers an opportunity to earn four CTLE hours from relevant workshops, hear from an inspiring keynote speaker and meet with colleagues from across the city.

Please join UFT District Representatives Nancy Aromando and Ariel Arroyo for a workshop on functional behavior assessments (FBAs), behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and the data collection processes that support them. Participants will learn the purpose and components of FBAs and BIPs and explore the procedures for developing them. Attendees will also learn how to effectively monitor progress and use data to better support the students we serve.

The UFT's annual Black History Month film series will run from Thursday, Jan. 29, to Thursday, Feb. 26, this school year. The theme is "Echoes of Resilience: Stories of Heritage and Struggle." From the preserved traditions of the Gullah Geechee people to the frontlines of health care activism and personal battles for identity and survival, these films celebrate the enduring power of our community. Each screening will be followed by a guided discussion. Join this session to view the film Rob Peace.
